DTDC History
DTDC is one of India’s leading integrated express logistics provider, operating the largest physical network of customer access points in the country. DTDC offer a comprehensive range of technology-enabled logistics solutions to serve a wide spectrum of customers across diverse industry verticals.
DTDC commenced operations in 1990 and were the first express logistics company in India to implement a network of entrepreneurs (Channel Partners) that operate DTDC branded Customer Access Points. DTDC Channel Partners support them in building relationships, generating business and providing services to customers.
Today, the DTDC brand has transformed from a home-grown courier, express and parcel company to a widely recognized express logistics player offering a wide range of integrated delivery solutions to retail customers and businesses. Their solutions range from traditional pick-up and delivery to integrated warehousing and order fulfilment allowing their customer optimise for time sensitivity and cost effectiveness.
DTDC is a network of over 14,000 physical customer access points servicing over 14,000 pin codes, reaching approximately 96% of India’s population. Internationally, DTDC extend shipping services to more than 220 destinations across the world through global delivery partners.
In 2012, DTDC acquired a 52 percent stake in Eurostar Express of Eurostar Group in the UAE. In April 2013, DTDC acquired 70% of Nikkos Logistics. In June 2013, French courier company GeoPost (owned by La Poste) acquired a 39% stake in DTDC from Reliance Capital’s private equity arm, taking its overall ownership in DTDC to 42%.
In 2013, DTDC entered into a strategic partnership with GeoPost, the express logistics arm of Le Group La Poste (La Poste). La Poste is a French state-owned global multi-business services group with extensive presence in France and globally and has a legacy of over 600 years. GeoPost operates the La Poste’s express activity globally, with its core business being express road transport parcel delivery. GeoPost has strong international presence, trading under its own name in 48 countries outside France.
DTDC has been able to leverage the experience and business relationships of Promoters to go beyond domestic offerings to establish a global presence and the ability to offer international cross-border services in key markets.
DTDC began as a courier service in 1990, and have now evolved into an end-to-end express logistics player with solutions.
